The Provincial Owner-Controlled Construction Insurance Program (OCIP) provides Course of Construction (property) and Wrap Up General Liability Coverage for public sector construction projects.  The program encompasses most B.C. government ministries, health care agencies, K-12 public school districts and public post-secondary institutions.

The OCIP covers most construction works undertaken at institution premises, including new buildings, renovations and upgrading.  Certain projects require that the contractor arrange and maintain the coverage.   The requirement to insure depends upon the construction value of the project (not including design) and the nature of the work carried out.  Further details are available below.

Construction Insurance Application

For projects that must be placed under the OCIP, please complete the Construction Application Form and forward it to UCIPP (protection.program@bcucipp.org) at least three (3) weeks prior to commencement of construction to allow UCIPP time to place coverage.

If you have any questions about placing coverage under the OCIP or wish to submit a completed Construction Insurance Application, please email protection.program@bcucipp.org or call (250) 356-1794.

Construction Project – Completion

Once the insured project is completed and accepted by or on behalf of the Owner, the completion date must be reported to UCIPP.  If unsure about the appropriate time to lapse the Course of Construction and Wrap Up General Liability coverage, please discuss with your risk management consultant.
